Regions of Turkey

Turkey is about the same size as Texas. It occupies approximately 783,562 square kilometers. By comparison, Texas covers approximately 678,052 square kilometers. Seven distinct geographic regions divide the country. Four of the regions take their name from the seas bordering them. These regions include the Aegean, Black Sea, Marmara and Mediterranean. Likewise, three regions take their name based on location. These regions include Central Anatolia, Eastern Anatolia and Southeastern Anatolia. Each region has unique agricultural, climatic and topographic conditions.
