Uşak

Uşak floor coverings are handwoven in the city of Uşak (Ushak), Turkey. In the 16th century, the city was the principal center for the manufacture of commercial carpets in Ottoman Turkey. In the 18th and early 19th centuries, manufacturing shifted toward European aesthetic.
By the close of the 19th century the carpets had become coarser and rougher, with designs calculated to please European tastes.
