Rahmi M. Koç Museum is part of the Rahmi M. Koç Museology and Culture Foundation. The foundation is dedicated to the preservation, research and exhibition of industrial and engineering objects. The Rahmi M. Koç Museum is focused on the history of transport, industry and communications. Rahmi Koç’s passion for toys, mechanical and industrial objects began when his father brought him an electrical toy train as a present from Germany when he was a child. His obsession grew to the point that his homes, offices and warehouses were not enough to contain them. Model trains, scientific instruments and other objects were looking for a new home. After a visit to the Ford Museum in Dearborn, Michigan, Mr. Koç decided to put all his collectibles together under one roof. The Rahmi M. Koç Museum was opened in 1994. Featured collections include Ford Model T, Thomas Edison Telegraph and a Penny Farthing.

Istanbul, Turkey

The Koç Museum is located in inspiring Istanbul. Istanbul, once known as Constantinople, is the only city in the world to straddle two continents: Europe and Asia. Over the last 2000 years, it has also been the capital of three empires: Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman. Divided by the Bosphorus Strait, today Istanbul is home to over 15 million residents. Istanbul is a study of contrast: ancient and modern; conservative and progressive; chaotic and relaxed. With a rich history and warm culture, it is one of the most inspiring cities in the world.
