Çeşme, located just 8 kilometers from the Greek island of Chios, is known for its marina, beautiful beaches and crystal clear water. In Turkish, çeşme means fountain. Called by many the windsurfing and kite-surfing capital of Turkey, the area ranks as one of the best surfing-resorts in the world. The city is also home to the Çeşme Archaeology Museum and Çeşme Castle, a restored Genoese military fortress.
